Find a Penny, Pick It Up

When you're pregnant, people regularly ask you how you're feeling. "Good," I always say. Or maybe throw in one or two details. And generally, I am. But today was a turning point...

I was taking my morning break walk, wobbling my way down the road, when I spotted an old, worn and dirty penny. "Find a penny, pick it up and all day long you'll have good luck." Usually I'm the type of person that actually does pick up the penny. For good luck? No. Because I'm frugal/cheap? Probably both. But today, when I considered picking up that old and dingy penny, two painful thoughts came to mind:

"You know you have to actually bend over to get that penny," and then "Remember when you had to hold your breath this morning just to put on your shoes?"

So today I passed up the penny. And I realized that I'm still feeling "good," but I'm also beginning to feel extremely pregnant. Only 108 days to go!

Daphne Grace

Today, I went in for my 6 month (24 week) appointment and got to see our little girl in 3D! In the upper left-hand area you can see her face. That big blob that looks like it's covering her head is the placenta along with the umbilical cord spiraling on down.

Last week, Tim and I decided to name our little girl Daphne Grace. Daphne because it's a beautiful and unique name. Grace because of its meaning. Tim and I have received so much unmerited favor from God throughout our lives- well just look at this beautiful baby He's given us!

I can already see a little bit of Tim in her. Look at her nice plump Minami lips. She didn't get those from the Luukkonen side!

Elaine goes to drug court

I'm due in court tomorrow morning at 8:30 a.m. sharp. Drug court.

OK, you got me... it's not for my own court appearance, it's for my job. Actually, I'm really excited about this assignment. I'm going so that I can write a story for our agency's newsletter. I'll watch the proceedings, report on the program, take pictures of the judge and interview the participants. I need to dress extra legal tomorrow. And maybe I should rent a copy of legally blond.

Lady Lump (singular)

In the words of Fergi Ferg,
"My hump, my hump, my lovely lady lump."
When did this belly ever get so gynormous?! And more importantly, is this baby going to come out bigger than me? Seriously people, I still have 4 months left. But, I'm not gonna lie... I really do like all the attention. ;)
