Herbs in the Burbs

My herbs are finally getting big enough to eat. I started all of them from seed a few months ago. Dill. Daphne likes to eat it plain. I planted a few of them by my cucumbers, a good companion plant, or so I've read.
I planted the basil around its companion, the tomato plant. These little guys took a beating from the slugs a few weeks ago, but they're bouncing back.
We planted a lot of cilantro. I make a lot of Mexican food. But I also like to eat it in salads and on omelets. Yum.

Nice work! I want to be like you when I grow up! Where did you get the dirt? Is that a dumb dumb question? Was it already the ground of your backyard? Do you use raised beds? Did yo dig up the dirt in your yard and put it in beds? Okay, that's all for now. :)
