Seedlings for Spring

Today is the first day of spring. To celebrate: indoor seedlings.

I went low cost by using recyclables such as old water bottles and yogurt cups. Just snip a few holes in the bottom for drainage and cut water bottles about three inches up.

I used some of my daughter's crafting sticks to label with the date planted on front and type of seed on back. Daphne also helped me decorate the sticks and planters with markers and stickers. She then filled with dirt and planted the seeds. This is a great activity for aspiring gardeners.

Now to keep them moist with a spray bottle and check back in seven to twenty-four days. I'm feeling like these will work a lot better than the peat pellets that I used last year- they lasted only a week or two before the plant outgrew them.
